Fantastic food at Ockenden Manor, Cuckfield, has again been rewarded with a coveted Michelin star.
Head Chef Stephen Crane has been at Ockenden Manor for three years and the award is the culmination of hard work, consistency and quality over that time.
The hotel, part of the privately-owned HS Hotel Group, was given the coveted accolade in the 2004 Michelin Guide published last Friday – one of only 14 new stars to be awarded across the entire United Kingdom.
The Michelin Guide is the most revered and honoured guide within the hotel and restaurant industry and this is the second time Ockenden has received a star.
HS Hotel Group chef, Martin Hadden, said: "Stephen and his team, supported by restaurant manager, William Spalla, have worked tirelessly to achieve this goal. It's fantastic news and well deserved."
Stephen, who now lives in Pound Hill, Crawley, grew up in Balcombe and is player manager of Balcombe Village football team. He said that having been awarded the star, his next ambition was to take Balcombe to the Premiership – a dream that may prove slightly harder to attain.
