A town partnership is celebrating its success in making the town more vibrant and hoping for further success this summer with a series of family events.
Burgess Hill Town Centre Partnership (BHTCP) - a collaboration between Market Place Shopping Centre, The Martlets Shopping Centre, and the local councils - said it has boosted footfall in the town through its regular community events since it was set up three years ago.
Chris Goldfinch, regional centre manager of Market Place Shopping Centre, said the partnership’s successful events have made a huge difference to the town whereby the footfall has increase and the retailers have seen an uplift in sales.
He said: “In the three years since the Town Centre Partnership was founded it has succeeded in broadening awareness of Burgess Hill Town Centre and its retail offer, making it a significant and interesting shopping destination.”
Andrew Barrett-Miles, leader of Burgess Hill Town Council agreed and said he was ‘very proud of the success of the partnership and the part that the council has played in establishing it.
He said: “The partnership has played an important role in the last few years in reviving the vitality and attractiveness of the town centre.”
The partnership has organised a series of events throughout the summer holidays to keep the kids busy.
On Tuesday July 28 there were Punch and Judy shows at The Martlets Shopping Centre, outside William Hill Interiors.
On August 4 Market Place Shopping Centre will host magic shows.
On August 11 there will be Punch and Judy shows at The Bandstand, in Church Walk
Finally, on September 1 The Martlets Shopping Centre will host magic shows.
Ian Goodridge, regional manager of The Martlets Shopping Centre, said: “I feel privileged to be a part of the Burgess Hill Town Centre Partnership.
“The team has worked hard to provide a varied range of innovative events and promotions to support local businesses and has been rewarded with many positive comments from both retailers and shoppers.”
After the summer, the partnership will turn its attention to Christmas and all residents will be invited to the big Christmas light switch on November 21.
