Summer schemes for youngsters

Youngsters in the Midhurst area can experience the magic of theatre during the school holidays by taking part in two new summer schemes.

The week-long workshops are among a range of summer activities being organised by Chichester Festival Theatre.

The theatre’s learning and participation director Rupert Rowbotham said: “The summer schemes are led by experienced theatre professionals, offering young people the chance to express their creativity, develop drama skills, have fun and make new friends. The workshops will culminate in a performance for friends and family at the end of the week.”

Rupert added: “Although Chichester Festival Theatre offers a range of arts activities for children, young people and adults in Chichester throughout the year, it is the first time that it has held summer schemes in Midhurst. Wwe’re particularly excited to be taking our week-long creative drama sessions further north in the county. They are always great fun, where the children and young people pick up lots of drama skills and have the chance to mix in a friendly atmosphere.

“This year Chichester Festival Theatre is running workshops for nearly all ages from five-95. We’re particularly excited about the Midhurst ones, because the practitioners we’ve got are great. And it ties up; Chichester Festival Theatre has long realised that its audience comes from throughout the district, county and region and for that reason we are very keen to extend the reach of the work we do with children, young people and community groups. More will follow, since we are forming a partnership with the Midhurst Rother Academy to launch a satellite Youth Theatre group this autumn in Midhurst too!”
