Teacher’s triathlon test

A PE teacher at Warden Park Academy, Cuckfield, who only began triathlon this year, has come third in the British Championships at Eton Dorney in May.

Sally Baldwin has also qualified to represent Great Britain in the World Championships in Edmonton, Canada this August and in the European Championships in June 2015 in Geneva.

Sally says, “It’s an honour to be chosen to represent my country and I would love to go to Edmonton, where I am targeting a top 10 finish.

“At this point I still need to raise around £2,000 for flights and accommodation by August, and I would welcome any form of sponsorship towards this target.

“We are still building on the Olympic legacy in triathlon, and I feel there is great PR in being associated with local sporting success.”

Sally is a great role model to her students and, as an amateur sportswoman, is totally self-funded in her chosen sport, recently spending £4,000 of her own money on a new specialist bike, which she believes could shave a minute off her overall time.

If any businesses are able to help with sponsorship and wish to discuss what they could expect in return, please contact Sally as soon as possible on sbaldwin4@wardenpark.co.uk , as she needs to accept her place in the team by 15 July.
