Nitrous Oxide is most commonly known for use as a mild general anaesthetic.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “Effects of nitrous oxide are immediate and last a couple of minutes. It is a depressant and so slows your brain and bodies responses, you can have fits of giggles and mild hallucinations. Anyone taking nitrous oxide will be breathing it instead of air, which can mean users can develop headaches and dizziness from lack of oxygen.”

Details of the incident have not yet been released.
