The 71-year-old lost his battle with cancer on August 27.

He touched the lives of so many through his work with numerous voluntary and community organisations in Burgess Hill.

A JustGiving page set up by his family has received £4,580 worth of donations, exceeding its £3,000 target.

The money will be going to Burgess Hill Youth (formerly known as Burgess Hill Boys Club) which was Paul’s ‘life and soul’.

His son, Daniel, 44, told the Middy: “The response has been fabulous with many generous donations.

“Once again we as a family were overwhelmed by the support at my dad’s funeral and the many tributes coming in.

“Father O’Brien gave him a fitting send off. We will be presenting a cheque to Burgess Hill Youth soon.”
