In this week’s Mid Sussex Times an academy has announced it would like to take over Central Sussex College’s campus set to close in 2017, concerns are growing among residents over heavy lorries rumbling through an historic village, a football club has helped inspire a new comedy show being broadcast on Sky 1, four men have been jailed for string on burglaries after being spotted by an alert neighbour and a pet cat who disappeared from her home over two years ago has finally been reunited with her owners.

Also in this week’s paper a man has been jailed for seven years after being found guilty of sex attacks on two women, police text messages sent to offenders on the run to hand themselves in are ‘surprisingly effective’, it has been revealed, a Mid Sussex gardens is playing a leading role in protecting the world’s plants and a baby girl who passed away last year is being commemorated through sunflowers.

Meanwhile a businesswoman has urged people to get traditional red telephone boxes repainted in time for the Queen’s 90th birthday, a town mayor has been re-elected, new skateboarding ramps have been installed in a Mid Sussex park plus an exhibition on the life of Vivien Leigh is to be unveiled in the family home of her favourite costume designer.
