Huge tree falls onto A273 in Hassocks closing road

A huge oak tree fell onto the A273 in Hassocks yesterday closing the road.

A spokesman for Mid Sussex Police said the road was closed off between The Friars Oak pub in Hassocks and Jane Murray Way in Burgess Hill.

The large tree fell yesterday afternoon (April 24), and blocked both lanes on the A273.

According to police, the road reopened at around 5.40pm.
