Ambulance staff attend passengers after bus collides with bridge in Haywards Heath
Some passengers were attended by ambulance staff this morning following a collision involving a bus in Haywards Heath.
The incident took place at the railway bridge on Rocky Lane.
Inspector Darren Taylor, Mid Sussex Neighbourhood Policing Inspector, said: “The team, along with our fire and ambulance colleagues, have had to attend Rocky Lane this morning as a bus has misjudged the bridge and hit the bridge, damaging its top level.
“Ambulance colleagues are attending so some passengers.
“Please avoid the road at his stage.”
The incident is causing ‘significant congestion’ in the area.
Bus company Compass Travel said in a tweet: “An accident at the railway bridge on Rocky Lane means service 33 is diverted via Isaacs Lane, the significant congestion caused by this and the closure of Fox Hill means services are delayed in and around Haywards Heath.”
