Firefighters attend 2,200 litre gas tank blaze

Firefighters put out a fire involving a 2,200 litre gas tank in a house’s front garden.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene in Trout Lane, Brooks Green, at 1.57pm on Tuesday (September 29).

A spokesman said the blaze destroyed a garden shed and 20 metres of fencing. Radiated heat damaged guttering and the area surrounding the storage container.

Fire crews were at the scene for two hours. They used four hoses to extinguish the fire. The cause was not known.

The incident was handed over to gas and electrical engineers.

Crews from Horsham, Billingshurst, Storrington and Henfield attended.

Police closed the road during the incident.
