M23 to be closed for major roadworks – here’s when and how to avoid it

Significant roadworks along the M23 are set to cause disruption on the roads this week with a number of diversions in place.

Today (December 7) and tomorrow, between 8pm and 6am, the full carriageway will be closed northbound between J10 and J8, plus all associated slip roads.

For motorists looking to reach the M25, a diversion will be in place via the A264 Copthorne Road and the A22, joining the M25 at J6.

Travellers heading to Gatwick will be diverted via the A2011 Crawley Avenue, A23 and Airport Way.

From Wednesday to Friday, again 8pm to 6am, a number of roads will be closed around the area.

The M23 will be closed southbound between J8 and J10.

Motorists heading to Brighton from the M25 will exit at J6, head along the A22 and A264 before joining the M23 at J10.

For Gatwick, traffic continues on A2011 Crawley Avenue, A23 London Road, Airport Way.

The same diversions will be in place to accommodate closures of the Reigate to Crawley Link, Godstone to Crawley Link, J9 M23 entry sliproad and the Gatwick Spur eastbound.
