Man arrested after trailer hits pedestrians waiting at bus stop near Pease Pottage

A man has been arrested following a collision in which a trailer crashed into people waiting at a bus stop.

Emergency services were called to Tollgate Hill, near Pease Pottage, just after 11am this morning (November 14).

Police said the trailer became detached from a lorry and hit two people waiting at a bus stop along the road.

Paramedics along with the HART specialist response team and Air Ambulance crews treated the pair at the scene for multiple injuries. They were then taken to hospital, although their injuries are not thought to be life threatening, officers added. Police said a 54-year-old man from Chertsey, Surrey, was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle dangerously and driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.

He remains in custody and the investigation is on going, officers added.
