Man seriously injured after M23 crash

A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash which closed the M23.

All three lanes on the southbound carriageway were closed for more than an hour yesterday evening (Thursday June 25).

Emergency services were called to the three car collision near the A264 exit near Copthorne at around 7.10pm.

Firefighters freed a man in his 50s from one of the cars.

A firefighter at Crawley Fire Station said paramedics took the man to hospital with serious injuries.

People in the two other cars suffered minor injuries.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said all three lanes were closed following the crash.

The third lane was reopened at 8.15pm.

The carriageway was fully reopened at 9.05pm.
