More rail disruption - problems affecting London Bridge

A passenger has been taken ill on a train, causing delays of up to 30 minutes in and out of London Bridge.

Commuters are also facing disruption due to flooding at Patcham Tunnel near Preston Park station.

Network Rail says the flooding has affected signalling equipment, causing major disruption on the Brighton Mainline south of Haywards Heath.

Referring to the Patcham problem, a spokesman for Network Rail said at about 9.30am today (Monday, February 17): “The water level in the borehole was still rising last night, albeit at a reduced rate, and is now at 48.14metres.

“It has to be 47metres to flood the line. The borehole is used to measure groundwater levels in the area, which provides us with an early warning.”

A half hourly service is running between Hassocks and Haywards Heath, calling at Burgess Hill and Wivelsfield. Rail replacement buses are running from Brighton to Hassocks.

Passengers for London should change at Haywards Heath.

Passengers for London from stations east of Worthing and the east coast should travel via Lewes

Passengers for London from stations west of Worthing should travel via Barnham and the Arun Valley.
