Road in Horsham remains closed after ‘serious collision’

A road in Horsham has been closed by emergency services following a serious collision earlier this afternoon.

Worthing Road in Horsham is currently closed between the A24 and The Boars Head Pub.

A Sussex Police spokesman said emergency services responded to a serious collision involving a single vehicle in the vicinity of the Hop Oast Services in Worthing Road at 12.30pm.

“This is an ongoing incident and we have no further information at this stage,” the spokesman said.

“Anyone who saw what happened is asked to email [email protected] quoting operation Sunningdale.

“The B2237 Worthing Road is likely to be closed in both directions for several hours.

Motorists are advised to choose alternate routes in the meantime.”

A fire service spokesman said crews from Horsham and Crawley also attended the scene.

Public transport is being diverted while the road closure remains in place.

A Metrobus spokesman said: “Our #MB98 & #MB23 services to and from Horsham bus station are diverted via the A24, Guildford road and Bishopric due to an incident on Worthing road.

“Horsham Park & Ride, Salisbury road, Larksfield and Cricketfield road stops won’t be served whilst Worthing road is closed.”
