Congestion is building up on some of the county’s main roads, according to the AA.

There is slow traffic on the A27 Polegate Bypass both ways between Brown Jack Avenue and A22 Polegate Road (Cophall Roundabout) in the construction area.

Lane closures are in place.

Further west there are reports of slow traffic on the A27 eastbound from A24 Findon Road (Offington Corner) to Sompting Road.

There is also slow traffic on A29 Stane Street both ways from New Road to High Street in the construction area.

On the A27 Chichester Bypass westbound at A259 (Bognor Bridge Roundabout) there is slow traffic.

Ongoing roadworks are taking place in Newhaven, affecting the A259 South Coast Road near Downland Avenue.

There are also temporary traffic signals due to ongoing water main work on Old Brighton Road North at Horsham Road near Crawley.
