UPDATE: Haywards Heath man in hospital after Balcombe collision

A 39-year-old Haywards Heath man remains in St Georges Hospital with serious but non life threatening injuries following a collision involving a grey VW Golf on the London Road B2036, Balcombe yesterday (Saturday 6 July).

Police and ambulance arrived at the scene near the Cowdray Arms pub, at around 3pm.

A 55-year-old woman from Lewes who was driving the Golf was uninjured.

The road remained closed both ways for three and half hours while the cyclist was treated by paramedics and collision investigation work was carried out.

Police would like to thank drivers for their patience.
