UPDATE: Man collided with bollard before '˜potentially collapsing at wheel'

A man has been taken to hospital after colliding with a bollard near the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath, police confirmed.

Emergency services were called to the one-car collision at the roundabout outside the hospital in Lewes Road just before 8.30am.

A spokesman from South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) said: “The man required medical attention at the scene and was then taken into the Princess Royal Hospital.

“He potentially collapsed at the wheel.”

Police said the man was driving a Toyota Prius and no other cars were involved.
