The rail works between Littlehampton and Ford/Angmering are affecting train services on the coastway west route all week.

However, a broken down train at Faygate this morning has caused ripples across the network that have seen even more trains cancelled or delayed.

Trains may be retimed to arrive or depart earlier/later than normal,” said Southern Rail before the works began. “Some trains may also be cancelled or diverted.”

Passengers reported journeys this morning from Littlehampton to Worthing taking around two hours, with one passenger saying the 8.51am train from Arundel to Ford was initially delayed until 9.29am. He then had to get a train back to Littlehampton and then a bus replacement service.
