Police are appealing for witnesses after a 20ft container on a farm in Selsfield Road, Ardingly was broken in to.

The break in is believed to have happened between 5pm on Monday, March 30 and 7am on Tuesday, March 31.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said many items of tree surgery equipment were stolen.

These were:

• 4x STIHL petrol hedge trimmers (White and Orange) value £2,300.

• 6x STIHL petrol chainsaws (White and Orange) value £3,700

• 1x Husquvarna petrol chainsaw (orange) value £1,000

• 1x STIHL back pack blower value £400

• 1x STIHL pole chainsaws value £600

• 1x Gelert bag 40 litres in black containing harnesses, ropes, karabiners and climbing spikes value £1,000

• 1x Aluminium tree climbing spike vale £1,000
