Two Burgess Hill gymnasts take gold to become South East Regional champions

Burgess Hill-based gymnastics club Triangle Gymnastics, saw two teams from their acrobatic squad win medals at the weekend at a regional acrobatics gymnastics competition held in Sittingbourne.

Triangle Gymnastics took ten gymnasts ranging in age from seven years to 17 years to the regional competition where they went up against 12 other south east-based clubs.

Thomas Henderson, age 11, and Julie Huggins, age eight, won a coveted gold medal making them South East Regional champions in the mixed pairs national grade one. Daisy Brittain, age 14, and Charlie Connell, age 11, took home bronze in the women’s pair’s national grade three.

With over 500 children registered at the club, Triangle Gymnastics based in The Triangle Burgess Hill, have a team of ten coaches tutoring children from ages two to 18. Their competitive acrobatics squad, comprising of 40 gymnasts, and their general gymnastics squad, comprising of 54 gymnasts, regularly compete in regional and national competitions.

The club offers recreational classes as well as competitive squad sessions covering a range of disciplines including, acro gymnastics, tumbling and general gymnastics.

Head coach Ali Barugh said: “This has been an incredible opportunity for our gymnasts some of whom are starting off their journey in the competition world.

"We are incredibly proud of what they have achieved and have high hopes in the development of our squad gymnasts who will potentially go on to compete in national and international competitions.”
