Hesaan Sheridan said documents sent to Mid Sussex District Council’s planning department after December 24, will not be available to view for two weeks.

Mr Sheridan said the plan was ‘undemocratic’, arguing that planning applications won’t be subject to the same public scrutiny as usual.

He said: “I consider this unfair – a lot of people will. “It is not the right way to do things.

People won’t be able to see what comments others are submitting over this period of time.”

Mr Sheridan is objecting to proposals to build a pair of semi detatched houses on Land off Oakdale Road to rear of Dellney Avenue in Haywards Heath.

Plans for the development were submitted to Mid Sussex District Council at the beginning of December.

The window for commenting on the plans will close in early January.

A comment left on the Mid Sussex District Councils planning portal reads: “Please note that documents received by the Council between December, 24 and 2 January 2015 will not be available to view on the Public Register until Tuesday 6 January at the earliest.

“This is due to a close down by the council’s scanning contractor in order to facilitate a building move.

“Our offices remain open on working days to view paper copies of applications.

“We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.”
