LOCUS YOUTH GROUP: meet on Friday 31 March at 6.30 pm in the Parish Room.

There is a MOTHERS’ UNION COFFEE MORNING: in the Parish Room on Saturday 1 April from 10.00 am until 12 noon. Cakes, bric-a-brac, books and a raffle.

GARDENERS’ ASSOCIATION SPRING SHOW: is on Saturday 1 April from 2.30 pm in the Victory Hall. There are sure to be magnificent displays of daffodils and other spring flowers plus show-stopping home-made cakes on offer to have with your afternoon tea. Have a look around your garden to see what you could enter – the more entries the merrier the show. The children can enter too. Under 5s a painted spring scene made with cut fruit or vegetable prints or a colourful spring lamb/chick picture using cotton wool. 5 – 7 year olds can do the lamb/chick cotton wool picture or a bird’s nest collage using natural materials. 8 – 11 year olds can do a decorated Easter chick cupcake or a bird’s nest collage as above. Look out too for the Bake Off competition, which for the Spring Show is a Blueberry Cheesecake Gateau recipe – see Page 16 of the Year Book or call 811800 for the recipe. TIGGERS’ RACE NIGHT: Our fantastic village Pre-School is organising a Race Night in the Balcombe Club on Saturday 1 April from 7.30 pm. Tickets are only £3 each and are available from Balcombe Stores and the Balcombe Club. Come along for a flutter on the horses – there will be 9 races in total.

BALCOMBE HISTORY SOCIETY: the last talk before the Summer break is on Wednesday 5 April, and is a presentation by Tony Perkins entitled ‘Zulu War.’ You may ask yourself what on earth this has to do with Balcombe, or indeed Sussex? And you may be very surprised at the answer. Do come along to find out, including those of you who enjoyed the famous 1964 film. We hope the lighter evenings and Spring weather will tempt you out.

FIGHT AGAINST CANCER COFFEE MORNING: takes place at Heads Together on Thursday 6 April between 10.00 am and 2.00 pm. Any raffle prize donations would be welcome.
