ONE FINE DAY: took place on possibly one of the wettest days of the year so far, but despite this, an amazing figure of £2,008 was made for the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance. Well done Alice Cooke!

CHAMPAGNE, CROQUET & CAKE: The French Association has moved on down the alphabet with not a BBB but a CCC event in the glorious garden at Forest Ridge on Sunday 2nd September, 2:30 pm to 5:30pm. This will be a delightful way to spend an afternoon on the last Sunday of the summer holidays at a very good price of £7.50 per head to include a glass of champagne, a wide selection of cakes, pastries and eclairs, a cup of tea and free entry to the croquet competition. Children are very welcome and Family tickets are just £20 (toddlers are free). There will also be a pay bar with excellent French wines on offer as usual, as well as soft drinks. Tickets available from the website or Threads.

MINTON BADMINTON CLUB: starts again on Monday 3 September at 8.00 pm in the Victory Hall. We are a small friendly club, but at the moment we are particularly short of male players. New people would be welcome to come along for a “taster” evening without any obligation to join. For further information please call the Club Secretary on 01444 400054.

BALCOMBE GARDENERS’ ASSOCIATION: the Autumn Show is on Saturday 8 September 2.30 – 4.00 pm in the Victory Hall. Do enter any vegetables or flowers from your garden – you don’t need to be a member and the more exhibits the better the show. Entries should be sent to the Show Secretary by Wednesday 5 September. You can email bgacontact@btinternet.com or look in the Year Book for more details. If you would like to join the Association and get a Year Book every year then contact Rosemary on 811800, membership is just £10 for life membership.

WI AIR AMBULANCE TALK: the September meeting will be a talk by the Kent Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Service. We are hoping as many people will come and join us for this talk as it is so very important to the whole village. We want to know how they work and how we can help them to do this life saving work. So please come and join us for the talk and we throw in tea and cake FREE. Thursday 6 September at 2pm in the Victory Hall. We look forward to greeting you there (and bring a friend too). Remember it might be your life they save next time.
