BIG-hearted Burgess Hill brokers Bennett Christmas have been living up to their name in style this month.
Their fashion sense might be more over-the-top than haute couture, but when more than a dozen staff pull on special Christmas woolies, their adopted charity, St Peter & St James Hospice, will feel a nice warm glow.
Every day that members of the team sweater it out for a good cause, a donation will be added to the Christmas collection pot. And some intend to stay under wraps in the office until the Big Day.
“One of our young ladies already has five jumpers and is out shopping right now, buying at least another one. My assistant is going to borrow her son’s. I don’t have one yet, but I’m sure that’s going to be rectified!” said MD David Christmas.
The team has already donated more than £3,000 to support the work of the local hospice, which holds a special place in the hearts of many people in Mid Sussex, where most of the Bennett Christmas staff live.
“The idea sort of grew out of the office Secret Santa,” explained David. “But this way a great cause gets to benefit because for the privilege of wearing a ridiculous jumper we’re suggesting they make a donation.
“We haven’t made it a three-line whip that everyone has to wear a Christmas jumper until December 24, but I know some die-hards are intending to. I just hope if it’s the same one, they plan on washing it!”
