Members of The Sussex Vale Rotary club and their partners were pleased to help the Link To Hope charity with packing their shoe boxes for transport to Eastern Europe for distribution to needy families.

Shoeboxes are donated from all round the UK and gathered in Sussex before being consolidated for transfer. Sussex Vale RC has been helping for many years and helped pack 740 shoeboxes on Wednesday evening.

The Charity’s annual Family Shoebox Appeal has been running since 1992 and has delivered over 600,000 shoeboxes to hundreds of different locations! This year, the appeal has been extended to include the elderly, due to the number now being left alone whilst their families leave to work away.

The boxes are similar, however the children’s games and education materials are replaced with a wind up torch, sensory items, candle and holder etc. More information can be found on the Link To Hope website. The Sussex Vale Rotary Club draws its members from Burgess Hill, Hassocks, Hurstpierpoint and surrounding areas, helping the local community and international projects.

If you are interested in learning more about Rotary International and how you can help, please contact our club secretary on secretary@rotary-sxvale.org.uk, he will be pleased to hear from you.
