Church welcome Zambian guests

Over eight years ago, Haywards Heath Methodist Church formed a support group to lead fund raising for St Paul’s Church, Kalomo in Zambia.

They have raised funds to help with the roof of the Zambian Church and also help to build a manse for the minister. The latest project was to bring four members of St Paul’s Church – a minister and three leading people at the church in Zambia – to visit Haywards Heath.

This group are the second group to travel to Haywards Heath, the previous visit was in 2010. In between visits there have been to visiting groups from Haywards Heath travelled to Kalomo.

The minister leading the group is Rev Given Bwalya with Mrs Margaret Shawelya (Women’s Fellowship), Hitler Mweetwa (Men’s Fellowship) and Tommy Mweene (Boy’s Brigade). They arrived on Sunday 15th May and will return on Saturday May 28.

The escorted party have visited parishioners in their own homes, paid a visit to the Mother and Toddler Group and the Church Ladies Group afternoon tea party. They were formally welcomed by the minister of Haywards Heath Methodist Church, Rev David M Chapman (pictured).

They also plan to visit a farm and lunch at Hurstpierpoint with Rev Peter Rayson (minister of Hurstpierpoint/Burgess Hill Methodist churches) plus visits to Brighton and London.
