The Perrymount Players Youth Theatre Group are set to take to the stage as they present the time-honoured classic ‘Treasure Island’.
The active volunteer-led group based at Haywards Heath Methodist Church will be performing on March 19 at 7.30pm, March 20 at 7.30pm and March 21 at 2.30pm and 7.30pm at Wesley Hall, Perrymount Road, Haywards Heath.
Groupfounder and director Isobel Holloway said: “We aim to give the young people a rounded, full experience in drama. It is not just about being on the stage –we met in half term to work together on set painting and props – it is very important that everyone understands just how much effort goes on ‘behind the scenes.”
The group made their debut in the Sussex arena with Treasure Island in 2003. The girl ( Katherine Whinn) who played the character of Young Jim in this original production has since trained in drama, and now, 13 years on, she helps the group with physical theatre .
Isobel added: “I thought it was a fitting tribute to present Treasure Island again with her help. ....there will be a lot of action in this production !”
So join young Jim Hawkins in this action - packed drama as he makes his perilous journey to Treasure Island. Written true to the original text and full of fun, this promises to be full of excitement and adventure.
Tickets cost £7 and £ 5 ( concs). Call the Box Office on 01444 414502
