On Wednesday 5th November 35 Oakmeeds students took part in the Mid Sussex Schools Cross Country Championship held at Borde Hill Gardens.

The good weather, combined with a scenic and challenging course, made for some great running. In the Year 8/9 boys’ race Year 8 Joe Smith ran with great determination and won! A fantastic result.

In the Year 8/9 girls’ race Izzy Deamer, Sophie Hannah and Miranda Pierpoint paced themselves well to finish in the 20s.

In the Year 7 girls’ race Sophie Hooper came through strongly to finish in 5th place and Grace Pordage came home in 8th place.

Finally, in a very competitive Year 7 boys’ race Joe Ridley was the first Oakmeeds students home in 24th, narrowly ahead of Jared Hall in 25th.

Head of PE, Mr Vincent, said: “Congratulations to all the students that took part - they represented the school with true grit.”
