On 13th May, a volunteering community project run by Lloyds Banking Group in Haywards Heath sent a team of 12 volunteers for the day to Orchard House in Cuckfield.
Orchard House is a fifteen bedded mixed gender unit which offers care and accommodation for children who have severe learning disability.
Lloyds donated £180 to help buy equipment to transform the wooden tree house, Garden area including painting garden furniture. B&Q in Burgess Hill also donated £40 towards new plants.
The team’s main jobs for the day were to paint and move a shed to a wooded area of the grounds to create a tree house this also included building a raised platform. This tree house will benefit a number of the younger children within the home. In addition we cleared brambles, created a ‘Secret’ entrance to the tree house area using branches & foliage, painted a range of garden furniture, undertook weeding and planting.
Orchard House is delighted with the results. Managers Sue Wadey provided feedback from the day “Thank you so much for all your hard work yesterday, staff coming in this morning have all been commenting on how much better the patio area and furniture looks”. “You were invaluable in helping us move that project on”.
