On Sunday 14th June, the St. Lawrence Fair Pet Show, sponsored by Heath Veterinary Clinic in Burgess Hill and Hurstpierpoint, proved to be a great success and raised over £177 for the fair.
Held at the Hurstpierpoint Scout headquarters, the Pet Show was a great opportunity for the local community and their pets to gather and bond. Fun dog classes were held and competition was tough for the various awards on offer. Dale Bryant, Veterinary Care Assistant at Heath Vets, had the hard job of judging and picking winners from the huge variety of lovely pets on show.
The award for ‘most handsome hound’ went to Harvey, who went on to win the Heath Cup for ‘best condition dog’, owners Imogen and Millie Preissner were very proud. The ‘waggiest tail’ award went to DJ (pictured left), with Nellie coming in a close 2nd.
Watson (pictured right) deservedly won 1st place in ‘best trick’ and we expect to see him on Britain’s Got Talent next year!
Moca the bunny rabbit and owner Sarah Bucksey won the ‘Pat Venables Cup’, honouring Sarah as the child who is most involved in taking care of their pet.
1st place in the ‘cutest small pet’ category went to Fluffy and Wiggles, the rosette guinea pigs with Alvin the guinea pig coming in 2nd.
Sarah Solomon, Practice Manager at Heath Veterinary Clinic, said:
“The St. Lawrence Fair Pet Show is very popular every year and brings the community and its beloved pets together for a day of fun shows, competitions, tea and cake. We were lucky with the weather and the sun shone all day. As a local clinic, we like to be involved and support community events as best we can. I’m looking forward to next year’s event already!”
