As usual the secretaries were on tenterhooks waiting to receive Horticultural and Floral Art exhibits for the Scaynes Hill Flower Show but they need not have been concerned.

With the warm weather in the days preceding the Show the entries came flooding in. In fact there was a record number of Floral Art exhibits. It was very encouraging that many of the exhibitors were entering for the first time AND winning trophies so we hope that this will encourage others who are thinking of entering next year.

We included in our Junior Section a Class entitled ‘A portrait of the Vicar’ to be judged by the Vicar who was so delighted with the winning exhibit that it will be displayed in St Augustine’s Church for all to enjoy. Congratulations to Jessica Sams for her excellent work.

The ladies of Scaynes Hill W.I. kindly provided visitors to the Show with a mouth-watering array of cakes and cups of tea during the afternoon. Sheila Hobbs kindly supplied her usual high quality plants for the Plant Stall, from which there were very few ‘returns’! The Show Committee would like to thank our Judges, Stewards, Ladies of the S.H.W.I. and all other helpers/setters-up for their assistance, without which the Show could not be held.

We look forward to seeing you all again next year.
