The Martlets Shopping Centre in Burgess Hill is one of 60 shopping centres across the UK taking part in ‘One Great Day’ on Saturday June 11.
One Great Day is a series of family and community charity events being held throughout the month of June to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity and other children’s health charities from across the country.
Participating shopping centres provide a special family fun day that engages with the local community and raises money.
One Great Day was established in 2014 and has so far raised £150,000 and has now grown to include 46 different children’s charities. One Great Day now covers over 15 million square feet of retail space across the UK.
The Martlets Shopping Centre will be hosting a static cycle ride to Great Ormond Street Hospital and members of the public are invited to take part to raise funds for the charity.
Ian Goodridge, Centre Manager of The Martlets commented: “We are absolutely delighted to be a part of One Great Day. Hosting an event like this gives us the chance to give something back to support the wonderful work of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
“One Great Day is about community engagement and raising money for a number of great causes, but it is also a fantastic opportunity for families in the area to get together and enjoy a fun day out whilst spending quality time together.”
Michal Noe, Trustee of One Great Day, said: “We are so excited to have The Martlets Shopping Centre as one of over 60 shopping centres taking part this year.
“We are particularly grateful to CBRE, our event sponsor, who have helped to make this happen.”
