Schoolchildren in West Sussex have been getting green fingered with help from local housebuilder Barratt Homes.
Staff from the company visited Lindfield Primary Academy in Lindfield, Haywards Heath, to donate a tree to the school to mark the start of the winter planting season.
“This was an excellent chance to meet local schoolchildren and get them involved in tree planting,’’ said Barratt sales director Lynnette St Quintin.
“As a division we have planted or retained 37,000 trees in the local area in the last year and it is wonderful that this tree planting is helping to create a legacy to be enjoyed by staff and pupils at the school for many years to come.”
Lynnette added that building a close relationship with local schools is hugely important to Barratt Homes, which has its Heathwood Park development nearby, and that the tree planting has provided the housebuilder with an excellent opportunity to do just that.
Principal Marcus Still added: “The children, particularly those who take part in our eco school club, were very excited to receive the tree and will be keeping a close eye on it as it grows over the years.
“Thanks to Barratt Homes for the donation, which is a wonderful addition to our grounds.’’
