Lunch Bunch: re-starts n Thursday 14th September and is a drop-in lunch club for mums, dads, grannies and carers every Thursday from 12 noon to 2pm, in Wivelsfield church hall, Church Lane. Enjoy home-made soup and a roll while meeting new friends and chatting to old ones. Children are welcome (but not compulsory!) and lunch will be provided for them with play-helpers are on hand to entertain them while you lunch. Cost: £3 per adult, £1 per child, babies free. Wivelsfield Films: will be showing “Their Finest” on Sunday September 17th. Doors and bar open at 7pm - film starts 7.30pm. “Their Finest” - A wartime romantic comedy/drama, cert: 12a starring Gemma Arterton and Bill Nighy.: 1940, London, the Blitz; with the country’s morale at stake, Catrin (Gemma Arterton), an untried screenwriter, and a makeshift cast and crew, work under fire to make a film to lift the nation’s flagging spirits; and inspire America to join the war. Partnered alongside fellow screenwriter, Buckley (Sam Claflin) and eccentric actor Ambrose Hilliard (Bill Nighy), the trio set off to make a film that will warm the hearts of the nation and capture the imagination of the American population. THEIR FINEST, based on Lissa Evans’ novel ‘Their Finest Hour and a Half’, is a witty, romantic and moving portrayal of a young woman finding her way, and her voice, in the mayhem of war… and the movies!

Wivelsfield Youth Group: returns from the summer holidays on Tuesday September 19th with an evening of “Welcome Back Games” followed on Tuesday October 3rd. with “The Great Youth Group Bake Off”. All activities, under qualified supervision, take place in the Youth Room at the west end of the cricket pavilion from 6.30pm to 8pm. Everyone aged 7 to 12 years welcome - FREE. Historical Society: Please join us in the Village Hall for 8pm on Thursday 21st September when Mak Norman will dress for the part to speak on Anglo-Saxon Angleland. What brought the heathen Anglo-Saxons to the land of the Britons? They brought us the English language, word play, charms and runes and are the roots of the English ancestral tree. Visitors most welcome. £2.50 incl. refreshments.
Wivelsfield Community Club: (The Tea Club) meets In the Wivelsfield Village Hall on the 4th Friday of each month between 2pm and 4.30pm for a get together with tea, homemade sandwiches, cakes and scones with cream. All welcome small membership fee of only 50p per year. Come along and meet new friends.
