HISTORICAL SOCIETY MEETING: Please join us in the Village Hall for 8pm on Thursday 20th September for archaeologist David Rudling’s talk on Roman Settlements in the Ouse Valley. Finds at the early Roman villas at Bishopstone, Beddingham and Barcombe have yielded evidence that the sites were inhabited in Neolithic times. The Ouse was used by Romano-British farmers to ship their produce down the Ouse and to bring building materials, etc. upstream. Visitors most welcome. Entry £2.50 incl. refreshments. www.wivelsfield-historical-society.co.uk
