The Fun and Breaks (FAB) service matches people with a family to provide help for about two hours a week either giving them a break or help on trips out.

Activities might include swimming, going to a club, playing in the park, or time spent playing at home.

West Sussex County Council is looking for people who are reliable, sensible and caring to volunteer.

Applicants do not need any previous experience of caring for children with disabilities as both training and support are provided by West Sussex County Council.

Peter Evans, WSCC’s cabinet member for children - start of life, said: “Our FAB volunteers are truly amazing. They enable children with disabilities to have new experiences and help give families a chance to recharge their batteries or spend time with their other children.

“FAB volunteers gain so much from this as well. You build a bond with the whole family and it really feels good to give up your time for such a worthwhile cause.”
