On Friday it is likely to become even hotter, setting off thundery showers.

However, it is looking very good for the weekend with temperatures dropping a fraction, but little wind and plenty of sunshine.

The longer range forecast is for a good deal of fine and dry weather across most of the UK next week.

It is also likely to become breezy at times in the south, with a small risk of thundery showers spreading north at times.

Temperatures should be near or a little above average in most parts, perhaps rather warm at times in the south.

The weather looks likely to turn more mixed over the weekend of the 13th and 14th, with also the risk that windier conditions will affect the UK for a few days.

Beyond this the signal is that more settled conditions may become re-establised over the country.
