What should be done to reduce speeding in Lindfield?

Lindfield Parish Council is taking the first steps to reducing complaints regarding road safety in the high street.

A spokeswoman for the council said: “Lindfield Parish Council is aware of a number of traffic issues throughout the village, including heavy lorries travelling through the High Street and speeding vehicles.

“For this reason we have invited traffic consultants to quote for undertaking a traffic study in the near future to examine all these matters holistically and hopefully to identify effective solutions.

“Reductions in speed limits need to be enforceable and this is usually by means of physical traffic calming measures. “Implementation of any recommended traffic calming measures and Traffic Regulation Orders will of course require the co-operation and approval of West Sussex County Council and we will be working closely with their officers at the appropriate time.

“Traffic calming solutions are expensive and would of course be subject to budgetary constraints.”
