WIVELSFIELD WALK --- the Wivelsfield Historical Society event on Saturday 19th September at 5.00pm is for you to be able “ to take a look at our local landscape “. A circular walk through 2,000 years of history to discover how the local countryside evolved and is continuing to evolve. Following on from last year’s walk, the route will take us north on local footpaths and return along a short stretch of Green Road. Meet up The Cock Inn, Green Road, Wivelsfield Green. Please wear suitable footwear. Children and dogs are welcome as long as they are under control !!! HELEN MIRREN in WIVELSFIELD in September --- WIVELSFIELD FILMS resumes in September, on Sunday 13th September with “WOMAN IN GOLD”. Sixty years after fleeing Vienna, Maria Altmann (Helen Mirren), an elderly Jewish woman, attempts to reclaim family possessions that were seized by the Nazis. Among them is a famous portrait of Maria’s beloved Aunt Adele: Gustave Klimt’s “Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I.” With the help of young lawyer Randy Schoeberg (Ryan Reynolds), Maria embarks upon a lengthy legal battle to recover this painting and several others, but it will not be easy, for Austria considers them national treasure.
