OUR DECEMBER FILM is “MR HOLMES” as our Christmas month film to be presented by Wivelsfield Films on this coming Sunday 6th December, in Wivelsfield Village Hall RH17 7QG Film at 7.30pm Door open and Bar from 7.00pm. Mr Holmes is a new twist on the world’s most famous detective. In 1947, an ageing Sherlock Holmes returns from a journey to Japan, where, in search of a rare plant with powerful restorative qualities, he has witnessed the devastation of nuclear warfare. Now, in his remote easier farmhouse, Holmes faces the end of his days tending to his bees, with the company of his housekeeper and her young son, Roger. Grappling with the dismissing powers of his mind, Holmes comes to rely upon the boy as he revisits the circumstances of the unsolved case that forced him into retirement, and searches for answers to the mysteries of his life and love -- before it’s too late. Homemade cakes, Magnum ices in multi flavours and drinks served before the film and during the interval. Tickets £6 in advance from the Post Office & Village Stores and The Cock In , or online via the Facebook page for Wivelsfield Films or wivelsfieldfilms.wordpress.com.

WIVELSFIELD COMMUNITY TEA CLUB We have had an interesting and lively few months. Rebecca Leggett sang beautifully for us in August accompanied by Ash at the piano. September saw the WLT perform some hilarious sketches, one set in an nursing home which gave us much food for thought! In October Johnny Beever sang Sinatra, Buddy Holly and all the greats of the 50’s and 60’s which took us all on a trip down memory lane. Some of us even got up and attempted the twist !! A hearing dog with it’s lady owner attended in November to show us how her dog helps her in her daily life. The Christmas tea sees the return of singer, Tania Rodd, carols, Father Christmas and lots, lots more. We have received donations from the Church, the Parish Council and the Sussex Foundation in Lewes, and Tesco’s in Burgess Hill continue to support us. Our catering teams continue to provide delicious teas, and we have a wonderful team of people who provide transport, arrange flowers, wash tablecloths and generally help with setting up and clearing away. Our Committee sort out all the administration, finances, fundraising and much, much more. We could not hope to continue without any of the above and a big thank you to all involved. Next year we have already booked the Chief Constable, Alex Orchin, No Strings Attached and we are busy fundraising for our “Steam and Cream” on the Bluebell Railway in April. Next year there will be a vacancy on the Committee -- is there anyone out there who would like to fill it ? ALL are welcome to join us. Do ring Kay on 01444 471783 or Margaret on 01444 471770.
