Wivelsfield Films: will be screening The Dressmaker on Sunday July 17th. Starring Kate Winslet and Liam Hemsworth. Based on the best-selling novel by Rosalie Ham, THE DRESSMAKER is a bittersweet, comedy-drama set in early 1950s Australia. Tilly Dunnage, a beautiful and talented misfit, after many years working as a dressmaker in exclusive Parisian fashion houses, returns home to

the tiny middle-of-nowhere town of Dungatar to right the wrongs of the past. Doors/bar open 7pm - film starts 7.30pm. Wivelsfield Historical Society: Hengest, the First English King is the subject of the Wivelsfield Historical Society talk by Rupert Matthews on Thursday 21st July at 8.00 pm, in the Village Hall. For centuries historians credited the pagan barbarian warrior Hengest and his brother Horsa with destroying Roman Britain and ushering in decades of chaos and bloodshed that ended only with the rule of English kings a century later. Recent revisionist historians have debunked the story, so who really was Hengest and what influence does he have on modern Britain? Members £1, non-members £2.50 including tea or coffee and biscuits.

LUNCH BUNCH: a drop-in lunch club for mums, dads, grannies and carers every Thursday from 12 noon to 2pm, in Wivelsfield church hall, Church Lane. Enjoy home-made soup and a roll while meeting new friends and chatting to old ones.
