Woman in 50s attacked

A woman in her 50s was taken to hospital after an '˜unprovoked' attack.

A police appeal stated the woman, from Cuckfield, was assaulted as she was walking back to her car in Russell Road, Brighton at about 11.15pm on Sunday, January 3.

She suffered cuts and bruises to her face and head. She was taken by ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, for treatment.

Her assailant was described as a white man, of eastern European appearance, aged in his 40s, of stocky build. with a broad face and light short shaved hair. He was wearing a short light-coloured jacket.

Witnesses were asked to emai [email protected] or call 101, quoting serial 10 of 04/01.
