I am writing about the council’s priorities on safety on our roads.
On driving into Queens Road from the Mill Green Road end there is a new gadget that tells you what speed you are doing. What is so laughable, it has been put just off a bend. So it is telling you your speed on a bend in the road. What any good driver would do is slow down. So speeding at this point would be low. Yet in Oathall Road they have put a stupid little roundabout. There have been accidents there and one day there will be a fatal one.
When coming out of Oathall Avenue you cannot see traffic coming from the right, it is a complete blind spot. The only solution to this is controlled traffic lights. Cars coming from the Lindfield direction are just oblivious to the roundabout being there at all.
If you’re driving from the town and want to turn into Oathall Avenue the traffic coming from the Lindfield end doesn’t slow down and will even speed up even though your on the roundabout to turn.
So to see this speed gadget in Queens Road I am lost for words at what a complete waste of our money again. What are these councillors thinking of, obviously not safety.
The council have done some stupid things in Haywards Heath but this has moved up my list of money wasting and gaffs. Would they enlighten us the cost of this gadget?

Editor’s note: In response, a spokesman for West Sussex County Council said: “These Slow Down Speed Signs are moved from location to location at the request of local members to monitor speeds in problem areas.”
