Your item on the St Lawrence Fair at Hurst in 1980 certainly brought back some memories (Memory Lane 23/7/15).

I was part of the organising committee for the fair around that time and may well have been the secretary that year.

The large picture shows the local cub/scout pack who won the prize for the best entry in the procession having entered as a ‘Pack of Cards’. Each boy came as a different card. I think the man in the centre holding the cup is Ken Leaney but I can’t identify the others. The three girls in the picture lower right were the fair princess flanked by her two attendants. The princess was Dr Jeffery’s daughter, the girl to the right was Joanne Bonner and the one to the left was Sarah Cutler. They led the procession in my husband’s 1927 Austin Seven.
