LETTER: More challenges and needs ahead

On behalf of all at St John’s Church, I would like to thank Greg Mountain for his very generous thanks and praise of the work that we do at St John’s (Middy 25/12 edition).

If I may I would like to extend that praise to a good number of others with whom we work.

So much of the work in which we are engaged could not happen without the dedication and hard work of people from other churches and faiths and those of no particular faith but who want to work with us on community projects. It is a privilege and a delight to work with such a wide variety of people, indeed we believe that the way forward for many social projects of the future is for faith communities to work with secular organisations and individuals who are simply those of good will in partnership and collaboration; none of us can do it on our own. After all our churches should be a part of the community rather than apart from it.As we go into the new year with more challenges and needs ahead, I would like to thank all those who support so much of our work and who help to make Burgess Hill such a special place to live in.
