LETTER: Not good enough to eflect attention away from Martlets petition

My response to Steven Cridland’s letter (Mid Sussex Times 15/10/15) is that it does not answer the concerns of what would seem to be the majority of Burgess Hill residents who are faced with losing the beating heart of their community.

I am of course referring to the Martlets Hall and the head in the sand posture of the council.

Can I say to Mr Cridland that it is simply not good enough to deflect attention away from the petition of 5,000+ names demanding a like for like replacement of the Martlets Hall by offering a referendum on the town plan the implementation of which is years in the future.

What is needed is action now from the council to show they really are taking the issue seriously. A referendum on the future of the Marlets Hall would do this and also provide the ammunition for the council to stand up to the property developers who seem to be setting the agenda.
