LETTER: Providing support for dementia

Alzheimer’s Society provides support to people affected by dementia in Sussex.

Sadly however, we know that a number of people in the local community do not receive any support, simply because they do not realise that there is specialist help available to them.

We already have some wonderful volunteers in Sussex who support people with dementia through our services and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their continued support and help. We are now looking for two or three more people to volunteer their time and get involved in our befriending service.

Our trained befrienders provide companionship and are matched with people depending on their personality and common interests. With the support of befrienders people with dementia are able to continue to do things they love.

If you would like to know more about the role of befriending volunteer and/or the services we provide within the area please contact the Sussex Helpline on 01403 213017.
