Mid Sussex Labour Party is shocked at the murder of Jo Cox, MP for Batley and Spen, who was one of the most talented, brightest rising starts of the Labour family.
Our thoughts are with her family, friends and colleagues. This act reflects the violence which constantly simmers below the surface in our society, whether it is football hooliganism tainting an exciting tournament in France, violence outside pubs every weekend, or hospital A & E staff facing assaults.
Pam Haigh, Chair of Mid Sussex Labour, said, “The best legacy we can offer the memory of Jo Cox and her family is to be absolutely committed to building a better, kinder, more peaceful and more inclusive world. We need to believe passionately that this can be achieved for future generations even from this extremely bleak starting point. Together we can and will offer a better future for our children and grandchildren”.
