LETTER: Speaking up for the Martlets Hall

I have lived in Burgess Hill for over 54 years, since my husband’s firm relocated to Mid Sussex.

I have taken on board many changes to the town during these years which MSDC have made without reference to the rate payers who live here.

But now I feel I must speak up for the Martlets Hall - the biggest asset we have. Have the councillors actually seen all the facilities they are proposing to destroy with the stroke of a pen? Thousands of local people, involved in varied leisure pursuits, will find their lives the poorer if this is allowed to go through. Nothing presently available is remotely comparable.

Incidentally, the town council’s About Town magazine promised us a referendum before action is taken!
